The broken OM501LA engine of a Claas Jaguar Fieldchopper suffered from engine damage, near Erfurt in Thuringia. After the client sent it to our workshop in 97618 Niederlauer, our mechanics took it apart for inspection and to identify, which parts had to be replaced. Aside from the defective crankshaft, pistons and liners, both turbos were broken and the injection nozzles needed to be changed, alongside other parts. We briefly summarized the extent of the repairs and ordered the required replacements with the agreement of our customer.
Once all the parts had arrived, we put the ordered cam- and crankshaft into the washing machine, while we started the reassembly by pressing the new liners into the engine block. After installing the camshaft and crankshaft, we used original connecting rods and bearings to replace the broken ones. As the add-ons gradually found their place on the engine, we renewed the worn gaskets, exchanged the old oil oump, changed the defective injectors, fitted two new turbos and finally put on fresh oil and filters. Soon the reassembly of the OM502LA was complete and after finishing its two-hour test run, the engine was ready for action.
